Many of us (and I include me in that number) have loads of images languishing on our hard drive. You may have made them yourself or bought them or got them free from the public domain. They could be part of a bundle you downloaded for one image or maybe you just because you couldn't resist them.
Some of us also have quotes, sayings and Bible verses we have used once in planners and journals and they now live in hard drive purgatory. If this is you, then I have found a great product that is simple to make and if you create templates you can make again and again.
Hi, my name is Marian Blake. As part of my quest to find ways to use my "stock" of images and sayings, I often go down rabbit holes when I come across a new way of using images. Most of the rabbit holes are dead ends but occasionally, I find something that I can create easily in PowerPoint, uses images and sayings I have on file and there is even a market for the product.
This idea came from one of those rabbit holes!
So what is the product I have found that fulfils my criteria?
Desktop Wallpaper.
It's the image you use on your computer to make the desktop image less boring. Some people use a picture from their holidays, some a rotation of all the images on their computer and some just an abstract image supplied by their software providers.
Below are two images - the first is with just a plain background,
the second with a minimalist desktop wallpaper.
So why desktop wallpapers?
I don't know if it is because we are working from home and want our computers to be elegant or pretty and not just functional but there is a massive demand for desktop wallpapers. To give you some idea of the size of the market, the number of searches on Google per month is 135,000! It is also a good all year trend so people are searching all the time. Some niches are seasonal but many are not.
A few questions answered.
Okay, that's great, but where can I sell them?
You can sell them on sites that allow digital downloads as we sell them as png's. Think Etsy, your website or other sites that are more regional like Hello Pretty in South Africa.
You say they are easy but there are 15 screen sizes, what if people buy the wrong one?
The good news is that although there are 15 different screen sizes, you only have to make FOUR versions to cover them all. So just create a bundle including the four versions and you have everyone covered.
Are they just for Windows PC's?
Nope. Customers use them on Macs and Window's PC's.
