I have been using and recommending people use PowerPoint as it is a fantastic software. The learning curve isn’t steep and there is plenty of information on the internet on how to use it if you get stuck.
Now to the reason for my post.
I treated myself to a new laptop early in the summer as my old one was slowing up and I needed my power. It arrived after a month, but that’s a different story!
One of the problems I have been getting with my new laptop is blurred images, even when I change the options to 330 dpi. It’s been driving me bonkers. I save, blurred images, check options, save, check options, and save again, but nothing worked.
Why is this important?
If you are selling your products on the web, they need to be at least 300 dpi so that the images are clear when they are printed.
The Problem is Solved.
Over the weekend, I bought Sue Flekenstein’s new mini training and templates and had a play. All went well till I tried to save them. They saved at 96 dpi and not 300 dpi, even though I have changed the settings in options. This has obviously happened to Sue, as she had included two URLs with how to solve the problem.
Unfortunately for me, it didn’t solve it on my computer BUT with Sue’s help and hunting the internet; I have solved the problem.
Three things have come from this.
- Always check your images to make sure they are 300 dpi. If you are not sure how follow this link https://www.groovypost.com/howto/check-the-dpi-of-an-image/
- If your images are not 300 dpi after you have changed the information in the Options section, go to the link below. Watch the video and copy it EXACTLY. https://www.slidecow.com/powerpoint-tutorials/export-high-resolution-high-quality-images-powerpoint/
- ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, save your presentation as a PowerPoint presentation as well as images. That way, if you need to change the images, you do not have to recreate the slides.
I hope you find this helps. I’m off to change save my images again and reload the products on Etsy and my website.
Hi Marian, does this work for those of us with a Microsoft 365 subscription (I’m using a PC with Windows 10). Also, is it possible to use 330 DPI rather than 300 DPI, e.g. for creating high quality pdf exports? Thanks so much for your help with this.
Hi Julie
Yes it does work on Microsoft 365 – it did for me! I don’t know is the honest answer for making it 330. I find 300 sufficient for my pdf’s.
